There are tons of them on the A10 and A11 but they are springing up allover the place.
I dont think they are speed enforcers tbut I dont know what the flip they are ?

I do have skylight filters - and I use them at times when there's a risk of dust, sand or salty after etc getting at the lens.
Plus - my lenses are insured against accidental damage anyway

| | | Re: Sigma 105mm i have not put extra filters on my lens and so far i have had no damage ,given this i know on dslrs with non digital lenses there is no loss of light with these but there may be some fringe distortion on cheap filters at wide angles . as to a uv filter on the ccd as far as i know the only filter on the ccd apart from the 3 colour filters is an anti moire filter or anti aliasing filter (sorry if spelling is incorrect) but i could be up for correction here |

| | | Re: Sigma 105mm The UV filter debate rumbles on. Modern film is not responsive to Ultra-Violet light, and digital cameras have, as pointed out by MALCOLMX, an anti-alaising filter over the sensor array.
As I shoot mostly land and seascape I generally have a polarising filter screwed onto my lenses, but when shooting without, instead of using UV filters, I have an 81B fitted which gives a slightly warm image (colour psychology).
Any type of filter can run the risk of lens flare, particularly when shooting into the light (hood or not), with the extre air/glass surface in the equation, and there is the possibility if vignetting with ultra-wide lenses. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
