| | | Mevagissey Harbour, Cornwall Just spent a very pleasant week in Cornwall. Found this fishing villiage and immediately fell in love with the place.
The following shot comprises 3 images, merged into one panoramic view. It was taken at the top of the cliff, overlooking the outer harbour.
The town is largely unspoilt although the traffic is definately out of place.
This street (Fore street) believe it or not, is 2 way. Just ahead of the second car is another road of similar width which is also 2-way. The first time I arrived in the town I came down the hill and had to turn left along Fore Street towards the camera. It took four shunts to get around the junction.
The outer harbour has a number of rock outcrops towards the harbour edge.
The rocks are resting and feeding places for the wildlife in the harbour.
and the waters of the harbour are the feeding place for the Shag
I hope this gives a taste of things to see and do here.

| | | Re: Mevagissey Harbour, Cornwall Thank you all for your very kind comments and of course for viewing this thread.
I shall look up Polperro next time I am in Cornwall.
We also drove to St Ives but found to our horror that everything had changed. All the car parks were full and lots of cars (ours included) wandering from one car park to the next to find a space. We had no luck and had to drive back again. My advice to anyone intending to visit St Ives is to leave the car behind in Levant and travel in by train. We did not have enough time to take up this option.

Seriously, its great to see so much of the old world still about. We spend too much of our energy destroying our heritage and replacing it with something modern that never lasts.

| | | Re: Mevagissey Harbour, Cornwall Excellent shots that bring back good memories.
I've found a couple of shots that show how much the area has changed. The older one surprised me, I never thought all those buildings were so new!
Here's a shot of Mevagissey 2004:
Here's a shot from a similar aspect. The shot was scanned from a book called Colourful England. The book was published in 1983.
