| | | How do I undelete a photo on my camera? I have just inadvertently deleted a photo from my camera's Compact Flash card. I would very much like to retrieve it i.e. undelete it so I can download it onto my computer! It was the last picture I took and I haven't used the camera since What is the best way of doing this? |

| | | Re: How do I undelete a photo on my camera? I'm not sure you can - Sandisk Compact Flash cards come with a free piece of software called RescuePRO which can sometimes do it on their discs but I'm not sure it would work on other makes - I simply haven't tried it. I could send you a copy of the programme if you don't have it. I've bought several Sandisk cards recently and have a spare copy available. It comes on one of the minicd's so you would have to have a CD drive with a normal tray opening so it fits in the small inner circle of the tray, it won't work in a slot loading drive. If you want to go down this route send me an address by Private Message and I'll stick it in the post for you.

It's completely free and it works. Provided you've not used the card since, you'll get it back. |

Let me emphasize what Graham said - don't use the memory card at all until you have got the photo back. |

Good luck

| | | Re: How do I undelete a photo on my camera? Many thanks for these suggestions - the memory card is currently in mothballs - and I've downloaded the software - my problem is now that I don't have a suitable card reader - it seems that it can't find the card when it's in the camera ... |

Try things like turning the camera off, load the card then turn it back on? |

It's completely free and it works. Provided you've not used the card since, you'll get it back. | I got a card reader tried this and it didn't work for me. It found 120 items including 70-odd undeleted items still on the card. However...
not all the 120 items were viewable and it didn't find the missing photo at all (it definitely existed and the card hasn't been used since). It also didn't find some of the undeleted pictures on the card! Of the deleted items completely recovered some went back to March...
It makes me think that its search/reassembly protocol doesn't quite work on this card which has seen much usage and I've never reformatted the memory card so there's probably all sorts of stray image fragments lurking on there.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? |

| | | Re: How do I undelete a photo on my camera? That's odd. It's always worked for me. Mind you I ALWAYS format my card before every shoot, so perhaps that's the reason why. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
