| | | BBC Wildlife Magazine Anybody else take this magazine monthly?
I've recently subscribed for a year, and having received my first two mags I've got to say I've been bowled over. What a brilliant read, and the photography this month is jaw dropping stuff. There are some incredible stoat pictures this month. |

| | | re: BBC Wildlife Magazine Hi Chris,
I've taken this mag on and off for quite a few years and yes, it's cracking.
Having been unemployed for the last four and half months I've not been able to justify buying it
But!
I start a new job on tuesday so it will be on the shopping list once again

(And good luck in the new job, Neil! )

| | | re: BBC Wildlife Magazine Yeah i've been subscribed for two years and its absolutely amazing!! I think I'd prefer it if it were all about British wildlife though....that's why the best bit is the 'Whta to look out for this month' part!

| | | Re: BBC Wildlife Magazine I've subscribed for the past year, and will almost certainly renew. Great images, although the editorial content sometimes goes awry. |

| | | Re: BBC Wildlife Magazine General consensus is that it is no where near as good as it used to b in days of old...it is too global for me hence why i subscribe to british wildlife...and also buy the "Countryman" a delightful little mag when i can afford too.
I cant slag off BBC Wildlife too much though as i admit it is always the mag i stand and read through in WH smiths ha ha....never buy it though (although i would if it had a long article of interest ...say, on Scottish Wildcats or Moths or Ellie Harrison)
And before i get moaned at...WH Smith actually have an instore policy to allow people to stand and read mags without purchase!

| | | Re: BBC Wildlife Magazine Isn't it good? I'm a biologist by trade and I used to be taught by Dr Phil Gates at Uni in Durham. Was quite a surprise to see him doing the regular features in the mag every month!
I like the strong focus on UK wildlife as whilst it's lovely to see exotic species from around the globe I do feel that it's a little paradoxical to be constantly warning against the impact of our rich western lifestyles on climate change whilst promoting long haul travel to foreign lands. And there's so much to see in our back yard!
In in all a great read and given the discount for annual membership there's nothing that can touch it (bar perhaps the satirical genius that is Private Eye). It's even just introduced a readers pics section towards the back - perhaps the only place I may ever get published! |

| | | Re: BBC Wildlife Magazine I think it's a great magazine - it's the one thing that both my partner and I will read.
I started subscribing to it when they did the feature on the previous David Attenborough series and have got so into it, I have started collecting back issues (courtesy of a certain auction website!).
Sometimes when I've had a stressful day, I will curl up in bed and read a issue, it really chills me out, and it has taught me so much information I did not previously know. Also the photos are excellent - I loved the feature on the Hyenas! |
