just to mention that not far from clumber there is a layby with some bird feeders (empty tuna cans) nailed to the fence posts. this is a good place to get close to the little birds while using your car as a hide. (there are also some very unafraid rats at this location , tho they arent everyones cup of tea)
i'm afraid i cant remember exactly where said lay by is - its next to a little lake - we found it when we were there for last years wab meet. But graham or fungi john can probably give you more info as it was one or the other of them that mentioned it to me

If you approach Clumber from the Carburton road, turn left at the junction where the old school tea rooms are (they do excellent food!) Keep going for about a mile and the spot is on the right hand side. It's supposed to be a Raptor View point, you can see them, but usually as tiny little dots in the distance!
The feeders are very handy, BUT at this time of the year there's so much tree and leaf cover the light is terrible. Probably best to go there when the leaves have fallen. |

| | Re: Clumber Park with the Bigma Thanks, Guys,
This is all solid information, which is what I asked for.
As a [slight] change of subject, what's the view on hides?
I saw this: WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY 1 MAN PERSON CAMOUFLAGE TENT/HIDE (do the search as Links are Verboten) on that Buy it Now site with which you are all familiar at £69.99. I am drawn to it because it has a built in chair. Very useful for an old fart like me . And a drinks holder as well for the worshippers of Bacchus. Maybe that's why I have a problem with manual focus?
Is this a 'must have' ?
Thanks,
Bill |

| | | Re: Clumber Park with the Bigma Nice pics newbee, looks like you had a bit of sun when you took those photos, which helps when using these big lenses. Cant remember when we last saw the sun down this way. I`m itching to get out with the new lens, only been out for a couple of hours with it so far, the weathers holding me back!
