If you behave in the right way then they'll come within a few feet of you, even if you're sat in the open.

I belive that Kingfishers can be seen from a hide in Adel Dam, just North of Leeds. (And I have seen Red Kites overhead, very close to there too)! |

If you ever want to visit Bretton to get close to them just give me shout in a few month's time and I will give you precise directions/instructions.

I am wary of harming them by my presence so have never sought them out before, apart from using the hide in Adel Dam. Just been fortunate enough to catch glimpses as they fly past when walking along a riverside. |

I have never stopped to watch them if for the only reason of trying to avoid getting hit by hire boats !
