| | Canon 1000D Hey guys,
I was over at a popular camera sales website and found they were taking pre-orders for the Canon 1000D! I was described as an entry level D-SLR to fit in under the 450D.
I'm not sure about you guys but I think this is a bit of overkill, and I don't really see the point. There are only a couple of differences, namely, LCD size, autofocus points and resolution.
If anyone knows the reason why there's a need for a new model let me know because I'm missing it

| | | Re: Canon 1000D Have to agree, if I were looking at progressing to a DSLR I think I would pay the extra for the 450D. A pity Canon did not devote the time spent on developing the 1000D on an upgrade for the 5D then I would get excited.

| | | Re: Canon 1000D I hadn't heard about this model before, but I see it is now listed on Canon's website. It seems to be an entry level DSLR around £100 cheaper than the 450D, so they're clearly trying to compete with Nikon's D40.

Cant really blame them for that...

As for the replacement 5D... If you listen to the rumours around the various camera websites, it would appear that a replacement 5D will be with us by August.....
Oh and Petrol will be 50p a litre and they have discovered life on Mars

| | | Re: Canon 1000D I'm not sure that because there is a new entry level dslr out, there won't be a semi-pro upgrade out soon. I'm sure Canon are a big enough company to resource two projects such as a 1000D and a 6(?)D at the same time.
Time will tell.

| | | Re: Canon 1000D aye, the 40D is just out as is the 450D. The '6D' rumours have been about for aaaaages, so we'll just see what happens there! There's a fairly regular schedule of updates across the ranges with canon. No point in being impatient - they'll be out when they're done
I don't see the point in the spec of the 1000D (seems like an odd mix of the 400 and 450Ds) but the price seems to fill the void left by the 450D's higher price in the beginners market.
