There's little point in making a fuss about the time it takes to repair camera faults, as it is dependant on the availability of replacement parts, plus your place in the queue. The only effective way to avoid these problems is to have a back-up camera, although in many cases this is not financially feasible, or desirable.

HW | Thanks HowlingWolf, i guess its a case of tough luck then.
I will still pursue a quick fix, as i think i am entitled to at least try.....It doesn't sound fare that a consumer should be without a product he/she has paid for, for 9 weeks. I guess the seller would soon be on the phone if a buyer didn't send the payment for that period of time.

| | | Re: Canon EOS 40D DSLR The question being, WMOTW, is the camera in to be repaired under warranty? If so, you might just get it back sooner, rather than later. If it's not, you will have to wait for Canon to assess the fault and the time it will take to rectify it, and then send you an estimate of the cost. You will then have to respond to Canon to give them the go-ahead. This will all add to the time the camera is away.
Good luck!

| | | Re: Canon EOS 40D DSLR In some aspects, the 450D has better specs than the 40D. To make a clear choice I would suggest holding both in your hands. Some people find the 40D to heavy and cumbersome for a walk around camera.
Personally, I like a heavy chunky, rugged bit of kit with dials that I can see without my glasses. So when upgrading from the 10D it had to be the 40D for me. And with cashback, the price was actually cheaper than a 30D. Check if the £100 cashback still applies; I have an idea the latest promotion was due to end this month!
But, this is a basic level professional camera so to get maximum value from it you will need to understand a bit about 'real photography'. Although the basics aren't too difficult and the technical bits soon start to make sense. Then comes the choice of lenses, which is where the headaches and expense really start. |
