Fed up of waiting

I ordered a Canon 24-105mm L lens on 30th March and after I placed the order, I got a e-mail back saying it was out of stock. No problems I thought just a couple of weeks and I'll have it.

Well to cut the story short, I am still waiting, sent another e-maill off last week and it was still a case of supplier problems. ETA of stock 3-4 weeks! This is getting beyond a joke, if I had a e-mail address for Canon(looked on their website and found nowt) I'd ask them what's going on. Surely it doesn't take the best part of 3 months to sort it out? It wouldn't surprise me if I was still waiting for it at my birthday!(Thats in November)

Now I've got that off my chest, how is everyone? I had a cracking day yesterday and found 2 Smooth Snakes.

Oh and if anyone from Canon is reading this- sort your flaming suppliers out!!

I know how terribly frustrating waiting can be .. Could you telephone them? Sometimes it's easier to speak to someone rather than e-mailing them.

And in answer to your question .. I'm very well! The birds are singing and for some absurd reason there are helicopters flying really low over the field

Have you looked on Warehouse express web site?
They are very good and normally next day delivery.
I have had parts of them before and been very happy.
Also a phone number on the web page for you to phone check if it’s in stock

The order was from Warehouse Express, who as you say are very good. If it doesn't go in to stock in the next 4 weeks then I may cancel the order and get the more expensive 24-70mm. Time will tell...

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a lens from DigitalDepot. They rang me an hour or so later saying sorry but they'd just sold their last one - restock expected in two weeks, did I want to wait or cancel the order. I said I'd wait. Two days later the lens arrived!

I had the same problem with the 400mm f5.6 'L' earlier this year - every where in the UK were out of this lens for over 4 months. In the end I bought one from Kerso in Scotland (also saved almost £200 as well).

Hi Mark sorry to hear of your problems. Very frustrating when you've decided to take the plunge and order something, only to find it's vanished into the ether!
I've just had to send my tripod mount back to Sigma..At least I can still use the lens, just can't support it! That's 2 out of 2 returns to Sigma within 3 months.

No, fortunately not, it's the 150mm. The screw that holds the tightening nut on has snapped. It's a tiny thing..the thread can't be any more than 1mm in size. I pleaded with them just to send the replacement screw, but no, they insisted on having the whole bracket back. At least they've left me with the lens!

Well at least you shouldn't need the macro for Bempton!
