| | | Using photos. I am the secretary of our conservation group and am looking for examples of species that are found here for a book that I am writing. I would like to know if I could use some of these photos with full credit to the photographer.

| | | Re: Using photos. I would guess it would depend on whose photos they were, and what (exactly) you wanted to use them for? E.g. website \ brochures etc. and size... perhaps approaching individual photographers would be the way to go?

| | | Re: Using photos. yep i'd definitely say contact the individual - some of us sell images proffesionally and would normally require payment , others might be happy to just do it for a credit, while for others - such as myself, it would depend on the circumstances - for a comercial venture i would be looking for a fee while for a charity or not for profit group i might give pictures free or for a donation to wab.
there isnt really a hard and fast rule and as the copyright rests with the individual photographer you really need to contact them.

| | | Re: Using photos. Mike and Jan,
I'd be happy to let you use some of my images if I know what and where they're being used. Private message me if you like.
The website in my signature displays some of my images.

| | | Re: Using photos. I take the same view as Pete (eeyore). For a full scale commercial publication - e.g. something you'd buy in Waterstones - I'd want payment, but if it's for charity or just a small print run local publication that would be a different story. As usual, if any of my shots take your fancy just PM me to discuss.

| | | Re: Using photos. As I said, I'm the secretary of our conservation group, but I forgot to mention that it's an MOD group and the book would be aimed at station level, produced on site for site distribution only. Sorry guys (and gals) but I'm afraid we can't stretch to payment for photos as we (in the group) don't have any funds, and as it is intended for station level only it would be a freebie for the workers. I would go for the photos from MOD but yours are a lot lot better.
To those who have already agreed, many thanks I shall contact you in due course.

Mike | on that basis i'd be happy for you to use mine - except that a few are already sold on an exclusive for publications basis and thus cant be used in other books - however if you want to use any please feel free to pm me and discuss
