| | | SD/SDHC differences? Hi all,
Need to grab a couple more Secure Digital Cards. I notice when checking around that most of the 4GB plus ones are now labelled SDHC - the HC being High Capacity.
My question is - are these still standard SD format and will they fit any SD appliance - in my case my D50?
Thanks in advance

The introduction of SDHC cards has caused a lot of confusion.
SDHC cards are those over 2GB and are a different format to SD cards up to 2GB. SDHC cards require an SDHC capable device and firmware, generally not found with older devices.
As far as I am aware the Nikon D40 will accept the new SDHC format cards but the D50 will not. It may be worth checking with Nikon to see if they have a firmware update for the D50 to enable the use of SDHC cards.

Gerry | Looks like Nikon have never issued a firmware update for the D50 so sounds like you are confined to using SD cards up to 2GB.
