I have tried all the aforementioned lens and combinations and come up with all the same issues. The bigma is too heavy to walk about with and handhold, the 400mm f5.6 is restrictive and lacks the flexibility of a zoom etc. For me the best lens has got to be the 100-400mm it is fairly light weight, has IS and the image quality is superb. This lens is rarely off the camera these days.
