| | | Re: Miss of the month? Sorry to leave the thread high and dry for a while. Haven't been very good for the last few weeks ...
Doesn't look like Kate Rusby to me either.
Quick questions, off-thread, to Dan:
Did you read Chia The Wildcat as a boy?
Have you heard of Percival Cresare, regards your beloved feline?
Zan gets the best miss so far - a White-tailed Eagle, sigh (love to see one). Big as a barn door, camera within reach, but all it took was one man in the way! |

| | | Re: Miss of the month? Last week, on my way into work in Southampton. Every day I go past the Lower Test Nature Reserve. If I can I sneak a look to see if I can see any geese etc.
Then one day I saw - all too briefly as I had to watch where I was driving - a large brown coloured bird with black wing tips taking off from the marsh. Markings etc. didn't suggest goose or any other bird I've seen there before.
Turns out it was most likely a passing migrant - a marsh harrier .
No camera and no opportunity to stop and look - and now I expect it's gone on it's merry way .
Oh well, at least I saw it, but I doubt if anybody will believe me!

| | | Re: Miss of the month? I was out on the North downs trail today. Had a beautiful walk in the sun with a good mate. We talked nature and photography. We were wandering through a field when all of a sudden, this flash of White flew above us and I don't have a clue what it was, maybe an Egret? It was Heron shaped. I had the camera in hand, 500mm ready and +1/3 exp comp. dialled in. Trouble is, by the time I'd worked out I didn't know what it was so I could tell Mark it wasn't an Owl, I'd missed it
I plan to go back.
