| | | I wish I took my camera It was one of those days at the weekend when out with the kids in Woodbridge walking around the river Deben I wish I'd taken my camera.
Within the first couple of minutes we saw a pair of Corn Buntings feeding.
I also saw the following;
Redshank
Curlew
Oystercatcher
Teal
Widgeon
Egret
Little Grebe
Lapwing
Black Headed Gull
Sandpiper
Canada Geese
Next time you bet they won't be about when I've got the camera. Ho Hum!!!!

| | | Re: I wish I took my camera I obviously went in the wrong direction on Saturday.
I drove out to Mistley, Wrabness, then back down the Orwell bridge strand, there wasn't much of note and the light was rubbish for photography.
I should have travelled the 10 or less minutes it takes me to get to Woodbridge!
Which area/direction were you walking in?

I started off from Kingston field and crossed railway line towards Kyson point then back towards the Deben boat club.
I wish I could have spent a bit longer there, but the kids were getting a bit cold.
There's always next time

| | | Re: I wish I took my camera Thanks Steve,
It just goes to show how often we ignore what's on our doorstep.
I'll have a walk along there at the weekend, if the weather's good that is!
Thanks again.

I've been going there for years, being a local lad. I might try walking down to Wilfrid Bridge from Kyson Point, a bit of a trek but you never know what you might see.

| | | Re: I wish I took my camera Hi Steve,
I've done the Wilford Bridge to Kyson Point walk a few times, not in the last year though, there's usually something to see.
I've never walked from Kyson Point to Kingston Field, is that worth doing?
Let's hope the weather is good for the weekend.

| | | Re: I wish I took my camera I had a days holiday booked today, so I took a walk along the Deben this morning.
Steve was spot on, the area was full of bird life and to top it all I managed to get my first pic of a Kingfisher.
The pic is nothing amazing, I'm just pleased to have seen the bird and had the opportunity to photograph it.
Thanks to Steve for reminding me what's on my doorstep.

Whereabouts did you see the Kingfisher??
I haven't seen one down there for years, would be good to see one again.

Walking from the Boat House towards Kysons point, follow the path past the slipways until just before it comes to quite a sharp right hand bend.
The Kingfisher was sitting in the trees down in the dip on the right hand side, it looks like there's a small stream/watercourse there.
We saw the bird on the way out and on the way back, we were too slow to get any pics the second time though.
We chatted to an elderly gent who told us he also sees the Kingfisher most days when he walks his dogs.
I hope you get the opportunity to see it.
