| | | Waterfalls, fast or slow ? I've just got back from yorkshire with upwards of a thousand watterfall shots, reviewing my images I cant decide if I prefer the long exposures with silky water or the frozen crystals efect achieved with fast shutter speeds. What do other people think ?

| | | Re: Waterfalls, fast or slow ? It's often claimed that the long exposure effect is a bit of a cliche, but I still like it. At times though a very fast shutter speed can also be effective, particularly when it freezes spray and fine water droplets.
How's that for sitting on the fence?

| | | Re: Waterfalls, fast or slow ? Unfortunately my camera had acquired a bit of grot slap in the middle of the sensor so some of my best shots have a black speck slap in the middle. I have a hot date with photoshop to sort this out then I will put a thumbnail of each on here and some of my best ones in the galley too.
I also got some shots of a dipper at janets foss so one of those might make its way into the gallery too

| | | Re: Waterfalls, fast or slow ? It was tricky to get fast ones as the light wasn't great particularly in the gorges and valleys where most of the falls I went to were located, I got lots of slow but not many comparable fast shots.

I much prefer slow, even to the point of misty rather than just silky |
