| | | Nikon D50 or D70 ? hi ive been scanning through some of the threads here and i can see that you know your cameras id appreaciate some advice on the differences of the D50 and D70.
Ive been after an DSLR for some time now and was wondering if it is worth me waiting and saving abit more to get the D70 or should i go ahead and get the D50? (the D200 is out of my price range hehe) im abit of a newbe in photography but ive used my Fuji S5000 to death and have now sold it to go towards one of them.
I really like the way the D50 feels ive tested one out in jessops and it felt perfect plus the D50 is going for £396 now in that store and the D70 is over £700 |

Buy the D50 and spend the extra on better glass.
(Try to wangle a deal to replace the 18-55mm kit lens with the 18-70mm DX off the D70s)

I'd recommend the Sigma 50mm - you need to get closer but it's less than half the price and great quality!

| | | Re: Nikon D50 or D70 ? The Sigma 105mm macro is worth a look as well, it's a tidy little lens and does just offer that bit more distance between lens and subject, and that can make the world of difference when trying to photograph some species. |

Good luck with your purchase...........had my D50 just over a week and it's great. |

| | | Re: Nikon D50 or D70 ? Im new to photography but I have just got a D200 and for a Macro lens im using a Tamron 90mm Macro. Im very pleased with the Lens, I got it for £279.99 It gets the top marks in a photography mag this week beating Nikon, cannon and Sigma Macro lenses. As I say im no expert yet but I do like that lens and have some experience with macro albeit limited.
One tip though shop around as Jessops are up to £100-£500 more on some lenses and memory cards! Check out camera world or warehouse express as they always have the best prices and a much better service in my opinion. I always find Jessop to be pricey with lenses and cards. |
