It depends on the type of course, how much you want to pay and if you want a formal qualification at the end of it. . . . I am currently studying for a 'Diploma in Professional Photography' and would recommend it. It is a home study course where you are given your own tutor who assesses your modules at every stage. You can complete it at your leisureand there is no limit to how long it takes you. If you PM me I will give you the details of the website.

Like you some time ago, I was looking for a photography course. Whilst I am sure most Photography Courses are well meaning (and often expensive) you need to ask yourself prior to signing up, what do I want from a course, basic shooting skills, Landscapes, wildlife, Post editing (photoshop)....the list goes on. All of which you are unlikely to learn on a short course.
Another tack is to post your questions on forums, such as WAB and learn from the advice offered. Also find if you can a local wildlife photographer who is willing to spend a little time with you.
Please do not feel that I am negative regarding photography courses, I am sure that there are excellent courses available.

| | | Re: Wildlife photography courses. Thankyou all for your replies. I am currently doing a City & Guilds in Digital Photography and have improved my photoshop editing skills no end. However I am not sure that the course will continue here due to numbers. I also wanted to learn more about taking a good photo rather than manipulate an image (which has been great fun)

You have just started a grate course by joining the forum, if you post your questions on forum I am shore there are a number of Photographers amateurs and not so amateur that will be more than willing to help, visit different members websites look at their photos they often contain file information with the photo or you can ask war when and how, if it one thing I have learnt is never be afraid to ask questions, there is no such thing as a silly question.

Have you considered joining your local photographic club. If it's a good club you can learn a lot especially with the club competitions and seeing other peoples work and you also get some good lectures thrown in to boot. You also make friends with other photographers in the same area and if it's like the club i am a member of 3 or 4 of us go on trips together.
regards
