| | | just thought id let you know A couple of weeks ago i started a thread on here asking your opinion on the bigma and the 100 - 400 L as i could not decide on one or the other the advice was fantastic and i swayed one way then the other and now i have firmly decided and ordered the canon 400 5.6 L I have gone for this lens purely for the picture quality after reading countless reviews Does anyone have this lens and if so what do you think of it ??? If you dont have it what are your thoughts on it ??? I always find you read nothing but good reviews about any product until you buy it then everyone tells and you start reading how bad it is Also if you do have this lens what bag will it fit in attached to the camera im thinking of the tamrac expedition 7 thanks again shaun |

| | | Re: just thought id let you know Quite a few members here use that lens. I recently borrowed one from Roger (Ollie)
It's a superb lens. It's about as sharp as you can get, light and easy to handle and shoot hand held, I was getting excellent shots at 1/200sec. It's rated as just about the best bird in flight lens there is.
I'm seriously considering getting one. My one and only hesitation is the lose of the flexibility of the zoom on my Bigma. (Sigma 50-500mm.)
You wont regret buying it. There's just one danger though, if you don't get good images you can't blame the lens! |

Look forward to seeing your images.

| | | Re: just thought id let you know nice one, I'm sure you'll have a great time with it. I have the 300mm F4 lens, and if yours is anything like that, you'll get some phenomenal pictures. Don't think you can go too far wrong with Canon's L lenses, especially the primes.

| | | Re: just thought id let you know You should be able to fit the 400mil in a Tamrac expedition 7. I have one of these backpacks and I extended my 100-400mm out and it would fit. So if they are comparable in size you should be fine.

| | | Re: just thought id let you know I use the Canon 400 usm L 5.6 lens and really like it. I had a few probs with the hood on my first one but that got cleared up under warranty....Its a really good all round lens and performs very well. I would recomend one.
