help - can't access internal memory?!

The manual seems to suggest there is internal memory but no instructions how to get to it. All instruction require a card. Tried to take a pic. but just informs me i've no card. Olympus office closed and website not very helpful. it's an olympus e-410. Suggestions anyone?

Re: help - can't access internal memory?!

Just tried a websearch and cant find any mention of internal memory in the E410. What exactly does the manual say?

Happens to us all Tufftie
Believe it or not Canon DSLR's actually have a setting that allows you to take images without a memory card being in the camera - most of us that own one have fallen foul of that one!!

my fault - i get over excited and then mess things up! you're meant to grow out of jumping up and down for excitement aren't you? - my mother always said i was like an over excited great dane puppy - that was right up until my twenties...no change!

hehe! Happens to all of us

Digital cameras also have some degree of buffering capacity (bit like an internal memory?) while they store your photos onto the memory card. It's possible the manual was referring to that?

Anyway, glad you got it all sorted! enjoy your new camera

You need to have a card in the camera before it'll allow you take pictures.

Re: help - can't access internal memory?!

Yea, like Zan says, there is internal memory but it is used to store pictures while the processor writes these to the 'external' memory card, ie - the one you can remove. The bigger the internal memory the better usually. With DSLRs this allows you to take more shots in a row when using continuous shooting without 'lockout'. Hope that makes sense.

Merry Christmas

Chris

thats to enable them to shoot tethered (or bluetoothed) to a laptop - a function only useful if you do fashion or social events - i deactivate this setting on mine as soon as i take them out the box - nothing worse than taking an "award winning shot" only to discover you've failed to put the card back in.

as regards tufties question - yes you need a card but it doesnt have to be expensive - i'm not sure what format of card the 410 takes but places like 7 daty shop and dabs etc have most forms of memory card (1Gb) for under 20 notes.
