Monopod - Walking Pole

Is there such a product that can be used as a walking stick (ski pole) and also double as a monopod.
I do a lot of hill walking and don't know if an ordinary monopod would be up to the job.

That's exactly what I do with my monopod. I'm not up to doing hill walking though, mine is simply to aid me whilst I hobble around! I can't see any problems though, my monopod (Manfrotto mag fibre.) is far more substantial than a simple walking stick.

Such products do exist Ron1863 - I've never used one myself, but remember hearing about them on some other web site (walkers on long-distance trails in the USA sometimes use them). A quick google for 'Leki camera' came up with a reference for the Leki Sierra. A further google showed it's available in this country for around £35-40. I should imagine there are other ones available, but Leki are the biggest manufacturer of hiking poles that I know of.

Thanks very much for that advice.
I just wasn't sure if a monopod would be sturdy enough if I placed any weight on it, especially as I do a lot of walking on very rough and hilly terrain.

Cheers, that's a big help, especially as it's made specially for walking. I think I would prefer to buy this than a monopod as I think this will be more up to the job.

I've used a leki pole supposed to be for use as a camera support , found the pole good for my back and legs but havent used it much as camera support , usually end up using a bean bag or just boosting the iso and hand holding...just my thoughts
