May I suggest that if you're serious about wildlife photography you should check out the article in the December issue of 'Digital Camera' magazine about French pro (and winner of the bird category in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006) Vincent Munier.

The article features some fine examples of this guy's excellent work and, as you might expect, one of his top tips is "you can't rush nature photography and have to watch your subject for a long time to understand its behaviour"

Great magazine and a good article. I have subscribed to this magazine as well as a couple of others and the advice and articles are absolutely invaluable. Another good wildlife photographer to look out for is Andy Rouse. He has an article in the same magazine as well as others.....

I read that article yesterday and I agree, Munier is an inspiration. Approaching the subject from the wildlife enthusiast side first and as a photographer second gives such an advantage to his profession.

I've not read that article but I agree that Munier's work is excellent. He aways seems to do well in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. I'll keep an eye out for a copy of Digital Camera.

Brilliant article, what an amazing photographer.
And the fact that he uses no filters or photoshop at all, brilliant, the old fashioned way of photography.

i agree - i subscribe to digital camera for such articles

on the rouse meister it is also worth noting that he has a daily (most days anyway) blog on his website which is well worth a view , and also that you can subscribe for email updates from him which i have also found well worth it.

he also has a new book out on shooting raw which I have requested for chrimble as it might tempt me back to that format.
