| | | Firework Photos Hey,
If anyone has any good tips on shooting fireworks with regards to exposure and can let me know before too long I'd be grateful. I read a guide in Digital Camera telling my to use bulb and use a piece of black cardboard to cover the lens in between firework bursts but this didn't really make sense.
Happy 5th November,

| | | Re: Firework Photos If your camera has a bulb setting use it as described in DC Mag reason they say to use it is to give you a longer timed exposure so you can capture more than 1 burst of rockets in the sky .
If you use buld with an exposure of f8 @ 15-30 secs you should get some nice shots the reason for the black card or you can use your lens cover is to cover the lens in between the bursts of the fireworks the longer the exposure the better its just a matter of trial an error.Point to note check to see area of Sky most of the rockets burst in then focus on this area .
Hope this helps and googd luck enjoy yourself.

I set my Canon 400d to f8, iso 100 and then use a shutter release and do bursts of exposure. press the shutter as you hear the firework being set off. if you have something to cover your viewfinder whilst doing long exposure it will help with any light leaking in.
I usually use a lens at around 20mm.
Watch for the smoke after the first couple of fireworks... try stand to the side (ie not upwind or downwind) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
