| | | Goldfinches Hi, I am having real trouble getting the red faces of goldfinches exposed and was wondering if a better beamer/fresnel screen would help? These are my best to date (taken last week, I am currently a slide and scanner user but about to update to the 30d ) |

| | | Re: Goldfinches Hi Justin,
I'm sure you'll have no problems once you've got the 30D, although don't forget it's the piece of glass in front of it that makes the difference...What kind of distance/lens was used for those shots?
Always difficult to keep faithful definition when having to copy from slides or scanners, I once had a very expensive slide scanner, a Nikon, but I was never happy with the end results.
Once your truly digital, I'm sure that problem will be gone! |

| | | Re: Goldfinches When you get the 30D use curves in photoshop to bring out the details, failing that use the highlight tool. Always shoot in RAW then exposure will not be a problem.

| | | Re: Goldfinches Hi, the shots are cropped by about 1/3 of the frame. I used a Canon 300mm f4 L IS USM from about 3m away (They are slowly letting me get closer!) |

| | | Re: Goldfinches Hi Justin and welcome to WAB. I agree about the difficulty in getting good results from scanned slides. You will have no such problems when you go fully digital and I'm sure you're going to impress us with your photos from the 30D.
