| | | Hi from Kent Think I got this in the right forum this time, sorry for the other post.
Hi there, I thought I would join up and say hi. Im richard from Kent, near ashford.
Compared to a lot of you Im very new to this game. Ive finished a film degree so have been making short films for a while but have been spending more and more time behind a stills camera.
At this point in time I dont have anything decent, only an old fujifilm finepix 6000 which I guess you would class as a prosumer(sp) camera.
Ive been looking at DSLRs for a while now and thinking about which to get. I am drawn to the canon cameras since I use a Canon XL1 DV camera for filming. The model that im most interested in as the Canon 400D.
I spent a few mins in Jessops playing around with one and it feels good but im still undecided since money is always going to be an issue
I have managed to get a number of pictures on the internet using one of those free hosting places, one that doesnt seem to suck all that much. If its aloud to give external links please go over to Richard Grebby | Photographer / Filmmaker / Editor
I would be interested in what people think of the pictures on there, but please bare in mind im not using a camera thats even close to top of the range.
Anyway, thats me. |

| | | Re: Hi from Kent Hi, some very nice pictures there - you seem to have a very good eye.
400D is a very good camera and has had some good reviews. Some good second hand deals around at the moment for the superb 20D as well (having said that I still use the 10D and it is still a cracking camera even though it has long been superseded.
Anyway - hi from another Kent member!

I'm a Nikon user myself. Have you checked out the D40X? Same resolution and similar price point (slightly cheaper from one of the more popular web retailers). Not that there's anything wrong with the Canon, I hasten to add!

| | | Re: Hi from Kent Hi Richard and welcome to WAB. Have you tried any of the Jessops branches that are closing as they have excellent sales - about the only time you get anything cheap from them.
In the Glasgow branch that was closing, I bought a display model Sigma 17-35mm f2.8 lens for £95 (around £300 retail) and they were selling off ex display DSLR 's with the Canon 400D with lens at £300.
Good Luck |
