| | | Re: Binoculars with Built-in Camera they're not generally the best, the bins are heavier due to the camera and the camera quality tends to be quite poor. they're ok if you just need to take a quick pic for id, but to be honest they're a bit naff. its probably better (although a bit more expensive) to get a compact and a telescope if you're birding and photographing. top of the range here if the leica stuff, they've built an apo scope and designed a camera to work with it, does amazing photo's and the scopes superior on its own. cheaper way of doing this is to get a nikon spotter scope or similar (the rspb do one) and a standard digital compact (which you can pick up pretty cheap now). you can get connector kits which allow you to take pretty good pics. one of my birder buddies does this all the time, and his photo's are genrally spot on!

Opticron Piccalo scope and my binoculars, useful but not the best images

I went to buy the RSPB scope, but shelled out for one much better (and expensive), as I thought the rspb scope was rubbish. Perhaps it wasn't a good individual.
I spend quite a lot of tme at Minsmere (3m from home) - RSPB binos very common, RSPB scopes few and far between.
If buying a scope you need a decent tripod AND a decent tripod head which is silky smooth. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
