.......ever gone through your summer shots on a cold and rainy winters day and come across a surprise? I'm guilty of not getting rid of unwanted shots straight away, jamming up my picture files and slowing my pc.......but sometimes there's just that little surprise shot that was over looked. So if you come across one of those shots, attach it to this thread and let us all have a look. I'm going to spring clean my picture files this weekend, so mods watch out!

Not yet, but then I've only just recently starting getting into photography, and have a half decent camera to be able to take loads of pics, this one can take about 300 before I have to change the batteries, my old one was only about 30, so I didn't take many, but no doubt when I go through them there will be some that I forgot taking

I wish I had time to to have a sort out. I am out and about on average 3 times a week and each time probably take between 100 and 200 pictures. When I return home I try to remove any duplication and then pick out about 30 pictures for resizing for putting on my site, but I ver get rid of any. At the moment I have over 40GB of images on this PC and its only 10 months old. Good job that it as 2 * 160 GB HD's.

I like the idea of keeping every shot , you can see how the odd good one has come about ,but... end up being ruthless and delete loads , also throw away slides ,just for the storage .

Unless something is blurred or beyond help, I tend to hoard them all in a folder callled 'original pics' on my external hard drive. I sit down now and then and ruthlessly delete about 4 lol. Need to read up on external hard drives as I'm thinking I need more than 40gb now.

This is one of those shots I hadn't properly looked at until a few days ago. Look what the LW Conehead is up to. A foot wash. Wouldn't fancy licking my own feet...yuk!

That sounds as if you are not backing up ???

All hard drives will fail at some point, having copies
is essential - I have learnt the hard way

Even CDs and DVDs have limitied life span and the pundits
say they should be copied and backed-up.

All of which reminds me my back-up is overdues
(as usual) .....................
