| | | What disapointments have you had? This photo is not very good in it self, but is the only Common Blue I have ever managed to photograph. It was taken at South Walney nature reserve in Cumbria in July. Imagine my disapointment when I got home and saw my photo's on the computer - who put that fly there? I certainly never saw it at the time and it didn't show up on the camera review .
I can't have been the only one this has happened too - come on tell all . |

| | | Re: What disapointments have you had? Bad luck. I have to admit that it's usually the other way around with me - I take pictures of plants (for instance) and when I examine them later there's an interesting insect in the picture!

You know when your in forums...and at the top you get a random selection of Gallery pics?....so often, i see something that stands out as excellent...be it a butterfly pic ( as happened to me just now) or whatever....the large stamp/negative sized pic looks like its going to be a calender quality shot...then you click on it to get it screen size and its a dissapointing out of focus, over cropped, pixelated blur .....and becomes what i call " One of those" that personally would have been resigned to the recycle bin as its not what i considering a "goer" in photography terms (unless its a snapshot/record shot) but its amazing how when reduced the worst photos can look like they have show winning potential!

Speaking of which I've been meaning to ask... your rather stunning nuthatch - is that purely your photographic skills or has it been enhanced afterwards?

| | | Re: What disapointments have you had? The worse thing that's happened to me was down to camera problems rather than annoying flies! but it was a huge disappointment.
In July I spent the day at Badbury Rings, a good chalk grassland site, and I took over 400 photos only to come home and find them looking like this!
So I effectively lost the only shots I've managed of a Ringlet, as well as shots of Chalkhill Blues, Common Blues, Brown Argus, Dark Green Fritillaries, Essex Skippers and many others. I was so annoyed with myself for not checking through my shots while I was there, because then I might've been able to do something about it. I decided to return the day after to try and get a few more shots, but of course nothing posed as nicely as it had done the day before
