Saying that i took some photos of the 'best in show' show garden at this years RHS Tatton Flower Show and the designer/gardener has asked me to submit some to the GPOTY!

| | | Re: Garden Photographer of teh Year Well it's going to be a great show with a hundred images displayed outside in a purpose built exhibition area and it will be seen in the flesh by more than half a million viewers. I know there are alot of free comps, but they're usually web based and you might win a camera... We've tired to stick to cash or voucher so winners can chose. I can post a artist's impression of the show if you want if you like.... not sure how to- so bear with me. Also we at GPOTY have a strict policy on image use and as photographers ourselves, we "protect photographers rights". Take a look at the rules at Garden Photographer of the Year and see what you think. |

| | | Re: Garden Photographer of teh Year If you are actually thinking of paying money to contribute to the advertising of the large companies involved, you might like to check out rule 14.1 regarding PUBLICITY. ' Finalists agree to take part in post competition publicity ' to see what that may entail, as having got involved in something similar with a photo competition some years ago, I ended up earning the prize several times over, through 'involvments'

As a company, we're actively against any kind of rights grabbing and persue a policy of "pay and choice". We do reserve the right to use pictures "in relation to the competition"- our thinking being that there's not much point in being a finalist unless the world see your beautiful pictures- and know they're yours ! hope you agree. Not bad for a free competition! |

| | | Re: Garden Photographer of teh Year The 2009 competition is now open and it looks pretty much the same rules as last year with the same categories ("Life in the Garden" being the most interesting) and the same entry costs.
After Fergus's success this year it would be great to have a WAB member (or several ) in the medals again next year.
