They used to be good cameras once, I had a brace of them and a lot of lenses, I still have the lenses M/C ones from 17mm to 70-200mm zoom no one wants them.
so I bought Canon gear.

I have a Konica minolta Z20 and I am missing it at the moment, it is in for repair. I was happy with it until I came on here. I wish I could win the lottery to get a better camera. Can't seem to get lenses for this one, only a wide angle converter which you can only get on their website. Ha.ha. I can't afford it anyhow
I have learned so much on here that if ever I have the money to upgrade my camera I now know what to look for. I wish I had it now though, it would be better than trying to get close to birds with a camera which is only a 3 times zoom.

There is a telephoto lens that will fit the konica but I can't remember what make. I think it may be a cannon. Expensive though.
I'll go through my mags and see if I can find it again.

Re: Konica Minolta

the z20 has a filter thread of 43mm - I think Jessops have a raynox adaptor to fit, but as the filter size is a little off the beaten track, can't be sure.

Even though KM announced their goodbyes, I still bought the 5D slr. Sony have promised to honour the warranties!

Re: Konica Minolta

how are you getting on with the 5D Carl? It's caught my eye in the past and I imagine the price has now come down. I like the idea of in-camera image stabilisation and don't understand why it hasn't caught on (maybe because camera producers make more profit on lenses than camera bodies).

Matt

Re: Konica Minolta

Matt, KM have patented the sensor based AS, other manufacturers have gone the way of the lens based IS (the gyro in the Panasonic ranges.).

Not sure on availability now Matt - I had the last one from Jessops I believe. But it's a good solid, easy to operate wee beastie!
Carl.

thanks Carl. I wonder if Sony will now use sensor based stabilisation in their future models?

Re: Konica Minolta

Sony have the rights to use the technology (all fixtures and fittings included in the sale!). Believe they may release a dslr with km af mount for lens, and 10.2mp sensor from the Sony DSC R1 and if you look at that camera from the back, it resembles the minolta z5/z6 model.

Re: Konica Minolta

If Sony can improve on the minolta konica cameras I would be suprised and pleased
the Z series are light have large easy to use controls and with a12x zoom about 380mm antishake are just the job for all but the most specialist photo jobs

I believe the tech bods have gone to Sony too (a waste of talent otherwise). What I believe Sony will add to the minolta standard is marketing muscle. If anyone can challenge the big 2, it'll be Sony.
