| | | do you... ...use the amount of wildlife in your garden that day as a measurand for whether you go out looking for some pics?? It's really cloudy here with the odd sunny spell but I have not seen any butterflies yet. After a miserable day yesterday where I saw nothing I'm not sure whether to go out.
Cheers

Go out, anyway. You never know what you'll get. Many a time I've been out before dawn, in the hope of good light. Sometimes it doesn't happen, and I don't expose a single frame. But occasionally, I get something totally unexpected and fleeting, which others don't see as they've stayed at home.

| | | Re: do you... I usually go by the weather. If it's nice and the dog wants a walk I lift the camera and go. It doesn't matter if there is lots of wildlife in the garden, I always see something interesting to photograph |

| | | Re: do you... Cheers guys, it was just the push that I needed
I was sneaking around in the long grass and just missed out on a blue tit pic and it started raining. I thought "there is no way I will see any Dragonflies today" and immediately after thinking that I saw one land in a nettle bush. I couldn't have made it up!! Anyway, sneaked up and got this pic.
Not a bad pic but I feel the background makes it a little confusing.
I saw quite a few things, a Violet Ground Beetle, an Ichneumon wasp and loads of Speckled Wood Butterflies. I also saw a different species of Dragonfly but didn't manage to get pics of any of these

taking the last rays of the sun on Elderberry bushes alongside the river or canal banks
