The best I have seen sofar for a 20D = £799.99
The best I have seen sofar for a 30D = £1039.99
Both with the kit lens
Anyone know of any better deals?
I will not deal with EBay!

| | | Re: Canon's I have been looking at DSLR's for several weeks now and if you can find them any cheaper then good luck.
You might find free postage (park cameras) but i don't think you are going to knock many pounds off those prices until maybe the 20D starts to drop as the 30D becomes more popular.
Awaits someone to come along with a price £200 cheaper now. |

Fredi | Hi
30D £829.99 plus £4.99 postage body only. I got mine last Friday after paying late Wednesday. The owner kept me in touch by phone. It is a genuine UK product. I also have the 20D the large screen makes a big difference. And no Graham of RGB is not my brother. http://www.rgb-tech.co.uk/shop/

I have read some bad posts about Pixmania (Gray market) also are they not sent from Europe. All I am saying is check the forums first before you purchase.

| | | Re: Canon's Yes, you will not get a UK sourced camera or manual from pixmania. Of course warranty is international, so your covered.
I purchased my BIGMA through a Hong Kong supplier, because I could get it £130 cheaper than a UK source, with a 4 year international warranty. The only problem is when it goes wrong, as mine has, you have to deal direct with the manufacturer, not just throw it back at the retailer, if bought from the UK.
I suppose it's how comfortable you are with that slight drawback. |

International warranty with Canon.
I contacted Canon in London as I was checking international warranties. I was told that each lens and camera had its own serial number. US serial numbers had to be returned to America. Below is a quote from a post on another forum.
“I bought a canon 70-200 lf4 lens and it came from USA. The lens was back focusing so I sent it to canon uk because it had a int warranty card. Canon uk stated that it had to go back to the USA for foc warranty repair. Only when the item is purchased in europe will canon uk repair under warranty. They sent me a estimate of repair for £150 inc vat. I spoke to canon uk warranty and told them to look at the serial nos. This showed the lens was manufactured in Japan during Sept 2005, only 3 months previous. They eventually relented and said on this occasion due to good will they would repair foc. The lens was faulty from manufacture and in my opion should of been repaired with out hesitation. I also asked the question what is the point of having a canon int warranty card if canon uk will not honour unless the item was purchased in europe.” http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=127615
This is a good site for all Canon Photography.

Neil | Hi,
Not the same with SIGMA, fortunately for me! they honour the international warranty, wherever you bought it. You have to prove you've paid customs and VAT, but that's all.
I'm not sure legally that Canon can do this, but I'm no legal expert! At the end of the day, wherever you bought the goods, they are liable for warranty, they can't walk away from faulty goods. One day manufactures will have to wake up to modern buying practises. Of course they want you to buy from a UK source, that's because we're the mugs of the world and pay way over the odds for virtually everything.
Enough, off me hobby horse!! |

Enough, off me hobby horse!! | Canon and any other manufacturer are only obliged to honor their warranty for a product puchased in the EU. They do provide an international warranty for lenses but cameras are not covered by this and they can legally refuse to repair them.
Sigma provide 3 years warranty on European sourced stock but only 1 year on international purchases. They also admit to giving priority to EU products during servicing. They introduced the extended three year warranty for EU stock to help reduce imports from Hong Kong.
I prefer to purchase within the UK knowing that I can ask for a brand new replacement should a product fail within the first six months and also request the seller to collect the faulty goods at their expense.
Olympus give 30 months warranty on their products within the EU but only 1 year for international purchases.
Its probably one of the only benefits of being in the EU!
Also note that if a product is repaired within the EU they have to offer a warranty from the date of repair, Trading Standards will clarify this.
