| | | Canon 30D RAW Hi all
I got the 30D on Friday, disappointed to find no Camera RAW support in PhotoShop CS2. The following link takes you to a work around that works fine. http://akhater.wordpress.com/2006/03...canon-30d-raw/
I wanted a second body to save changing lenses to much in the field. I found that the 30D was about the same price as the 20d so went for that one. I will post some photos next week. I got the 30D from RGB tech for £ 829.99

| | | Re: Canon 30D RAW I saw the 30D in Leicester today for 700. There is a digital weekend at one of Leicesters main stores this weekend. The 20D was 600. This was for body only though.
Quite fancied the 5 actually. 12M pixels. Thats one bad boy camera but I never use my 350 enough anyway. Good bargains though |

The macro ratio is 2:1 so it still gives a reasonably close image, a small word of caution though, the slightly larger f-stop means that it is not possible to hand hold it whilst taking macro shots unless the subject is bathed in bright sunlight.
Aside from this its a first class bit of gear, extremely well built and nice to use.
Kind of sad really, with me buying an EOS 20D it means that this nikon fit lens is now no longer in use unless I go back to using the F80 35mm slr, and to be honest thats not going to happen is it |

Cheers | Only have the ld 70-300 which is a good solid lens to use. Have heard good things on the 28-300 though, from a couple of camera sites. Other good thing about the Tamron, is that the 1.4 converter is less than half the Sigma price - and with a loss of 1 stop, takes high end to 670mm ish! |

What I would like to get into more this year is macro photography. Trouble is that I am very afraid of insects so don't want to get too close. It is therefore imperative that I get the right lens. |

| | | Re: Canon 30D RAW Yeah that sounds OK.
I have yet to come face to face with a really big insect, as would be viewed through a big lens, so am not sure how I will handle the situation. I even curl my legs up on the settee when they show insects and snakes on the TV so it could prove to be a bit hairy for me. Maybe not the best choice as far as hobbies go but I am determined to give it a try. |

| | | Re: Canon 30D RAW Its not mate. Honestly I am not into things that move one little bit and was once freaked by a money spider. I began playing with it then all of a sudden began to feel a bit dicky. Not sure why it is but it I get a strange feeling in my stomach and then it feels like something is crawling up my back and tickling me. BRRRRRRRR.
Spiders I am worse with and snakes are not happening. Can't even think about them. eVIL |

Boddie
At those prices I would be very interested
I will go and buy a Canon tomorrow!
I only live about 22 miles from Leicester and I am prepared to drive over and get one.
Where exactly did you see them?

It was suggested that I go see a hypnotist but I don't want to touch spiders as I don't think they are very nice anyway and snakes don't have legs for a reason. |

But I do understand that not everyone likes certain creatures, most notably insects and reptiles. Overcoming the fear is different from person to person. Curiously though, photography may help you more than you'll know! |

The biggest shop is Cecil Jacobs I think! which is up from the station, away from the centre.
The other shops are very small shops but I dont know which they are?

| | | Re: Canon 30D RAW nope it was not the big one near the station, they were dearer and the 20s, at a good price, were refurbs. It was a shop further down to the centre on the same side as the big hotel. Either the third or the second. Actually I like the big shop but they are having a refit there at the moment and stock was low. Some good priced lenses there though | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
