| | | Hoping for suggestions This coming week will be very unusual for me in that (barring disasters) I will have a child free week. I really would like to make the most of it and get out for a couple of days photographing bird life. I live near to Windsor but with this opportunity of free time I would like to travel further afield. Any suggestions please for good spots to visit? I don't mind a couple of hours travelling. Thanks in advance. |

| | | Re: Hoping for suggestions Thank you for the two suggestions so far, I have a couple of days I could do both, weather permitting. I could even abandon all housework and take more than two days
Anyone else got any others? |

It depends on what you want -- Quick and simple photo's of Fallow then the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary at about 2pm when the Keeper feeds them. Some nice Bucks there at the moment.
If you want to be a little more adventurous then get in some early morning starts. Ladycross Inclosure just off the Beaulieu Road is good Sika as well as fallow here.
I've just spent a few days here and at one time we were convinced that we saw a Red deer but could not be sure - it was just before dawn and the light was not that good.
Anyhow happy hunting, I'm sure other will give you more information |

As Deer Hunter says, Bolderwood is the easy option. The Keeper feeds the Fallow between 1.30 & 2.30 at the mo.
There are alot of deer on the Forest & you can see them just about anywhere if you go out first thing in the morning or in the evening. A good place is from Blackwater carpark near Brockenhurst, going around Poundhill Inclosure, Brinken & Gritnam Woods & Hursthill Inclosure. Here are alot of Fallow, a few Roe & most of the Forest's population of Reds.
Sika deer, as Deer Hunter said, are around Ladycross, Frame Heath, Hawkhill, Stockley, Perrywood Ironshill & New Copse Inclosures.
Hope this helps. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
