| | | Photo help, please.......... Can anyone tell me if there is a way of zooming in on photo's and saving it, ie I take a photo of a bird in the distance, put it on my computer and zoom in to make the bird fill the page, but I do not know how to save it like that, if it is possible. I am only using standard windows xp applications, but I do have microsoft picture it 10 and can't suss it on that either.
Please help, with no mention of photoshop..............Jon (?) |

| | | Re: Photo help, please.......... Picture it 10 must have a crop tool somewhere.
Simply crop a tight square around the bird and save, but be aware you will loose some image quality depending on the mega pixel rate of the camera it was taken with, and how large the bird was within the original image. |

It will also allow you to keep a better library of your images as it will file them for you. It only takes seconds to download, is free of charge and is extremely easy to use. You just have to play with it to get the hang of it and will regret not having it earlier.
You can get it here http://picasa.google.com/download/index.html |

You click on this if it's a square, and then drag a square around the part of the image you want to crop to.
You then save this, giving it a new name and you've done it! |

You do not have to move them all - they are moved automatically but still remain in My Pictures. Honestly mate you will struggle with the program you have and Picasa will make things so much easier for you. Just give it a try.
Surely someone can back me up here? |

Boddie - I'd back you up about Picasa its a good little bit of software, but I must confess I prefer photoshop, its just a case of what you're used to. |

Good for straightening photos where the horizon is at an angle. Must admit it hasn't the power of photoshop, but I do little editing anyway.

Surely someone can back me up here? | Me.I have had picassa for a while but only really used it to find my photos easily as I have several catagories i put them in.I was helping a technophobic friend with her digital camera and helping to show her how to put them on pooter. Some were a little dark and she hasnt got an image program to make changes.I downloaded it to her computer and showed her what it did we organised her pics, played about with enhacements used the print button and exported her altered images to a special folder. She was delighted with the results and the pictures thay were lightened came out beautfally when printed.
AND she picked up how to use it in one afternoon usually takes a week then she has to make notes.I just got an email from her and she has done a few all by herself she is so pleased.I use PSP X but dont always get what I want Think i will be using it more in future it is quite powerful for a freebie and so easy to use.Try it all you might be surprised as I was |
