| | | Iso 800 I was out this morning trying to get to grips with my Kenco 2X Tele Convertor.
I reduced the ISO from 1600 to 800 to try to reduce noise . Set the Exposure Comp to -2 to allow a faster shutter speed. Shot in RAW and adjusted the exposure in Lightroom.
400d, Manual Focus, 1/400, f8 , Av mode. Sigma 175-500mm set full open at 500mm.
That's 1000mm for a total cost of £370 !!
I wouldn't try printing it out at 20" x 30" !!! but at 6" x 4 " I bet it's OK.
What do you think?

| | | Re: Iso 800 that's not bad at all Keith, a bit of fill-in flash might have helped to give a bit of light to the bird's face. I bet that was one noisy image though being ISO 800 and 2 stops underexposed! You've presumably applied some noise reduction?

| | | Re: Iso 800 Correct ! There was a lot of noise. Lightroom is great at reducing it.
I am at present re charging some batteries for trials with an external flash.
I'll post the results later.
Although I'm having fun with these experiments, my overall advice would be to buy good glass !!

| | | Re: Iso 800 its not a bad shot at all keith tho the eye looks a bit soft - it is hard to say if this is a result of focusing locking elsewhere or a result of the noise reduction software - tho if i had to guess i'd say that the focus locked onto the feeder as it and the beak are sharp

| | | Re: Iso 800 They're all Manual Focused. You're right about focusing on the feeder, I manually focused there first, then took the shots and hoped the birds were on the same plane. It was a bit hit and miss as the Tits are so fast. I didn't have any time to focus on them. I suppose that's another minus point for the set up that I was using.
