I am sure a more informal approach would succeed, many people are reluctant to post in the gallery, let alone enter a competition even though their standard is high, take Turtletaggers pics. for instance.Entry for a monthly Theme may be the way to go initially make it a gradual build up to increase peoples confidence their work is very good it is just the confidence they lack

| | | Re: March Photography Competition? How about a competition for Compact Digital Cameras only? From what I have seen they don't hold a candle to the DSLRs. Might bring in a few more competitors. Would need to show the EXIF?

| | | Re: March Photography Competition? I'd agree with a compact/non-SLR category. Even though I've got a DSLR I used to take all my piccies with a Fujifilm A203. One example being my avatar.

| | | Re: March Photography Competition? I agree with your idea for non DSLR competition but would emphasise that we need more voters for the competition to make it viable. Last months votes were a little disappointing. Don't know whether its possible or not but could we not give the non members the opportunity to vote. I know non members only get access to photos if they register as members but could we not make an exception for the competition, so as to showcase the efforts of those who participate as much as possible? |

That would leave it wide open for vote rigging and lets face it we have enough members on the site that can vote if they wish.

| | | Re: March Photography Competition? Was that the first photographycompetition for this site? Maybe it just needs time to get going? I didn't enter as I got a bit confused over all the topics - maybe just one topic per month but I did vote? I also think it's a good idea for the dslr and compact to be split.

I'm waiting for two things,
1,- A useful lens to put on it ( the kit lens aint much use really!!!!)
2, - Weather that does not induce hypothermia, then perhaps the insects will come out to play. |
