| | | Saving photos to CD I have a Panasonic Lumix and save my photos to PC via software which came with the camera. It does not have the facility to back up to CD, what do I need to do this?
my system is Windows XP.
Thanks in anticipation |

| | | Re: Saving photos to CD Does your PC have a CD-writer drive? If it does, then when you open the folder containing the images, there should be an option at the left of the windown that says 'save these files to CD'. If it does, insert your blank CD, click that option and windows XP should guide you through the CD burning process .
If your computer only has a CD-ROM drive that you can read disks from, you'll have to buy a CD-writer drive .

| | | Re: Saving photos to CD xp has a cd writer built in - you go to edit - copy to folder , then copy whatever files you wish to write to your cd drive , then go to "my computer" double click on the cd drive icon to open it then select the files as displayed there - then you click on file - write these files to cd and voila it opens the burning wizard and does it for you.

| | | Re: Saving photos to CD I also back up my pics using CDs. I use CD RW so that I can add new pictures. With my old and defunct PC, I used Tescos finest because they and the PC were primitive. I now find that my new PC will not entertain Tescos, but will take Phillips. I find the different types of CD and DVD a bit of minefield.
I have just made a movie of my son's wedding from my video camera and have downloaded it both to the CD and DVD. Both work on my computer, but neither on my DVD player. I used Nero to burn the DVD and it said that the DVD would be OK in most DVD players. I shall have to try someone else's - unless there is something I am missing.
Usually my guv'nor points me in the right direction but she is not computer literate, to say the least. (She is better at the new microwave than I).

| | | Re: Saving photos to CD there are two basic dvd types - dvd+ and dvd- (think VHS vs betamax if you are old enough to remember that) most computers will read/write on either format but most players will only take one - ergo you may have a + disc in a - player or vice versa

| | | Re: Saving photos to CD Well done - it is often a simple answer - the trouble is that I am too simple to find it.
We are off to our son (Tom) and daughter-in-law tomorrow and I shall take the CD and DVD with me. He says that his cheap DVD player can play a slice of toast. We shall see.
His brother also made a movie of the wedding from images captured on a camcorder. Tom can play this on his TV so it will be interesting to look at the recording medium.

Colin | One thing to watch for Colin, depending on the system used, you may have to finalize the disc to play on ordinary players. |

Help an ancient techophobe, please.
I use Windows Movie Maker - Motion Studio supplied by Panasonic seems incomprehensible to me.
Could you please explain what you mean by finalising the disc.
Thanks

Colin | If your using Movie Maker, then your OK, that process isn't necessary. If you were just copying the images direct to a disc, using Nero or Roxio software for example, you have to finalise the disc before it can be read by a conventional CD player. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
