| | | Jessops in the news I hear on the news that Jessops is to close 81 of it's stores. I have some of their gift vouchers left over from Christmas, so does anyone know which stores are due to close?

Apparently they are selling 2GB compact flash cards at half price - so only £49.99 then

| | | Re: Jessops in the news Please do nit get onto the subject of memory cards from Jessops!!!!! I paid £45.00p for a 2GB Scan disk ultra (put it down to being a novice) I then noticed I can buy the same product for £17.00p on the internet. I challanged Jessops and was told that they "keep their prices keen" mmm I think it is sad when an insitution such as Jessops are struggling, because people are at risk of losing their jobs, but Jessops need to move with the times if they are to stay in business!
Rant over

| | | Re: Jessops in the news It is a shame, as there's few places you can go and actually get your hands on the kit without buying it. I just hope one of them is not my favourite store in Newark, I've been there many times, I even bought something from them once.. |

Ann | All I know is that they're closing one of their two Cambridge stores - but as they're less than 100 metres apart I've been expecting that for years

| | | Re: Jessops in the news If you actually go into Jessops with an Internet price print out, they will usually match the price.
They are a business at the end of the day and quite often differing customers will pay a different price for the same item!
How much did you pay for your Ford Focus? How Much Should have gone to...........

Ann | It will be whichever are making the least profit so I would imagine that it will be the smaller ones and those that have very high overheads on account of their locations - so given the spread of stores thereshould still be one near you - in my area for example I could easily envisage both the aylesbury one and the one in the centre mk being on the closurelist but the much bigger store on the H5 in MK would probably be much more likely to stay open.
Jessops have done this to themselves by pitching their prices too high (yeah i know they will price match , but it might be better just to advertise at a lower price in the first place) and by not having knowledgable and non partisan staff (which ought to be the uSP of shops over the internet).

| | | Re: Jessops in the news Jessops have priced themselves out of the market. I too have just bought a compact flash card and could not believe the price that Jessops were asking. I have just also bought a new printer and tried to get one of the Cambridge branches to price match - but to no avail. I would much prefer to buy locally but Jessops have shot themselves in the foot. They also say one of the reasons for the closures is the lack of demand for photo developing and printing. Proverbial heads in sand.
