| | | Practical Photography photo/caption competition In the current (July 2007) edition of PP on pages 82-83 there is a competition for animal photos with captions.
Quote: "We're looking for animal images - anything from ants to zebras and captive to wild - along with accompanying captions. Your captions can be funny, erudite or informative, but they must complement your image in such a way that it adds to the viewer's enjoyment and it should be no longer than 25 words. If all you can say is 'it's a dog' then don't send it in!"
Two first prizes of a Nikon D40X with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses are on offer plus ten signed copies of Chris Weston's book Wildlife Through A Nikon Lens for the runners-up. I think I need to buy a copy of that (assuming I don't manage to win one )

| | | Re: Practical Photography photo/caption competition Welcome to WAB Rebecca, I hope you enjoy it here!
The August edition of PP is now out so you probably won't be able to get the July one anymore, and the only entry form on the PP website is for the Photographer of the Year competition. Soooo...
Print this out and off you go.
Good Luck!

| | | Re: Practical Photography photo/caption competition The first thing to do when considering entering a competition, is read the rules and understand them. pressld2 has tried to be helpful in printing-out the rules of entry, and the appropriate form, but the rules clearly state: All entries must be sent with the correct, completed entry form and a full caption. Photocopied entry forms will not be accepted.
This means the one printed in the magazine. They will be able to tell the difference, I assure you. Anything that does not comply with the rules will be considered an invalid entry, and not considered.

Well spotted HW. I've entered PP competitions before and they've always said that photocopied entry forms will be accepted (so you don't have to cut your magazine up). I didn't notice that they'd slipped the word 'not' in this time - case of "seeing what you want to see" perhaps. I should have checked more carefully as some of the other rules are different for this competition too, e.g. "only one entry per person" - never seen that before.
