How Do I Post An Image Into A Forum?

I am fairly good with photo useage - have had a FLICKR account for some time now; can somebody please tell me how you insert a photo here - into an actual forum posting.
I have tried copying and pasting into a thread - that doesn't work. Have read the FAQ advice about the need to upload to the Gallery rather than link to an offsite URL - tried uploading to the Gallery twice in 48 hours - photos have still not appeared.

I have searched the FAQs and can't find any instructions as to how to insert an image here - so any advice would be warmly appreciated.

Hallo borderglider.

If you post a pic to one of the moderated galleries it may take a while to be accepted, depending on the moderators' workload. If you want to post a pic for identification or general discussion, post it to the "unidentified" or "Forum" galleries. These aren't moderated and your pic will appear straight away.

After you've uploaded to any Gallery, look at the image and you'll see a box below it with bbcode. Copy the contents of this box and then paste it into the forum thread.
