Bird Nest Photos

I have twice submitted nest shots to the Gallery. The first (of swallows nesting in one of the stairwells at Dunstanburgh castle while tourists passed within 2 feet of them all day long) was when I was a new member and, being a dollop, I hadn't read the guidelines properly. The second time (a great crested grebe shot taken from a busy public footpath), like Jon, I just forgot.

On both occassions Graham (glsammy) was kind enough to PM me to explain why they had been rejected. Also like Jon, I'm not sore about it. I fully support the ban because, as many others have pointed out, it's impossible to tell from the finished photo whether the birds were disturbed or not. And allowing shots of some species but not others would, IMO, just be an unnecessary administrative overhead.
