I have a few fritillaries in a pot and noticed a few weeks ago that something was nibbling the new shoots. Naturally I assumed it was slugs, but was extremely suprised to see a lily beetle nibbling away this afternoon. I know they can appear early, but I've never seen one this early in the year before.
It got unceremoniously slung over the garden fence.

Do you leave them or kill them.
I get them on my lilies and the plants are starting to die off I might have to grow something else. |

I think though if yoyu are vigilant, ie checking and removing the beetles daily, you can keep on top of them. It's generally reckoned that you should kill them if get hold of them, but I find it hard to do!
