| | | I've picked my Squash at last! Finally got round to picking my Butternut Squash before the cold go it too bad. This is the first time I've grown anything before and was quite pleased! Although it was the only one on the plant that grew, it's bigger than most the ones I buy in the supermarket!
The plant had pretty much had it, the stem all split and brown:
Ended up weighing in at 4kg (6.5lbs) and measuring 30cm x 18cm. Is this normal??

| | | Re: I've picked my Squash at last! Nice one! You evidently fed it well. As it was the only fruit it had to grow bigger than usual. Now what are you going to do with it? Cut in cubes and roast them? Soup - with a bit of curry. Stuffed with cheese and walnuts. Just a few suggestions!

Maybe something in the water here??
I do love a bit of Squash with stuffing alongside some roast pork and roast potatos...

| | | Re: I've picked my Squash at last! I didn't know you could grow those in the garden! Maybe I'll have a go next year, will have to read up. I love it in lasagne, or a good bolognese/chilli. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
