Garden seat

I need a short ( 40 inch ) seat/bench for my garden. I've been looking at concrete/stone benches, like these ..................

I wonder if there's an easy way to make one - not specifically stone. Perhaps half a railway sleeper or something like that.
Any ideas ?

Have you any Reclamation yards near you, you may find a piece of stone or chunk of wood to suit? Sleepers are soaked in creosote or something nasty which wouldn't be nice to sit on.

I think you can get sleepers that are for garden use that are not soaked in creosote..

Just a little point - if you do buy a raw sleeper just beware that there is a good possibility that small stones and grit may be embedded in the surfaces which will play havoc with any cutting edge.

I love the Rustic Bench.
I just been told of an Antique/Architectural 'junk' yard about 10 miles away. I think I'll go next weekend and see what's available.
