| | | Re: Climber for north facing corner. Thanks for your help, its much appreciated! There is so much to learn about gardening but I am excited about doing it! I think I am going to do some more research about climbers etc to find out what would be best to use and how to look after them and hopefully it will turn out ok in the end! I really like the idea of some kind of rambler rose (hope that's right?!) but not sure if it will be too difficult for me to attempt! Might go and ask the local garden centre too for their recommendations. I'm resisting the temptation to get a landscaper/gardener in to do it all for me as sure its more rewarding when you do it yourself! |

Kathleen Brown's book Create a Cottage Garden: Recipes for Borders, Beds and Containers is a step by step guide to creating a cottage garden concentrating at small parts of the garden at a time with good illustrations and a shopping list for plants. It covers beds, borders, fruit and veg, climbers etc.

| | | Re: Climber for north facing corner. Best advice, already mentioned earlier, is to fix trellis not actually on to the wall but a few inches away from it. Then if you plant species such as Hydranga petioralis or the winter jasmine, they will cover the trellis, and some of the space between the trellis and the wall - and leave good protected and hidden spaces for nesting birds. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
