Lots of bees on my white buddliea today but none on the purple 'davidii'  
Also the 'railway line' lilac version seems to attract the most butterflies.
Do insects have colour preferences?

Is your unpopular purple one a double-flowered one? They seem to prefer single-flowered types like your white one: easier to get the nectar.

Nice looking variety Buddleia Robin, I have a purple so I will go and see whats on it in a minute.
