Hollyhock Question

Hi

Please can someone tell me how long does it take for a Hollyhock to flower? I've got massive leaves coming on but no sign of a stalk shooting up as yet!

Will it be next year now that i will have to wait for it to flower as i planted it in early June?

Yes, they are strictly biennials, but after the second year when they flower they will go on as long as they don't get frosted or killed otherwise for another year or two. Once you grow them succesfully they will seed themselves, although the colours change.

I've planted a row of the black (nigra) variety and can't wait to see them on show.

Something eats mine no matter what but I still plant the seed every year.
It is fascinating to watch the big Bumbles in the flowers.
