| | | re: Whats wrong with this tree? Yes i would still go with it being bleeding canker, the strange thing is a really badly affected tree can be growing next to a healthy one. There are a few trees near here like the one in the picture, do you think the council need to be told?

I'm not convinced its Pseudomonas syringae at all. Are there rhododendron in the vicinity? If it was P. syringae then perhaps this particular tree has been damaged by a mower or something and so is more susceptible?
The trees should be under an inspection regime so their inspectors would probably have noted it. No harm in asking them. |

| | | re: Whats wrong with this tree? There are no rhododendron next these trees but there are some in gardens near by, interestingly a few miles up the road in a nature reserve it warns you to clean your boots because of a rhododendron disease.
