| | | Good plants for hornets? Well, the hornets are back again this year, feeding on the barberry which has just come into bloom. Each year is the same, the barberry flowers, the hornets arrive, the barberry stops flowering and the hornets disappear for another year. I have a real fondness for these gentle giants and would love to see them more frequently. Does anybody have any suggestions for plants I could introduce that would bring them into my garden more often?
Many thanks
Richard

| | | Re: Good plants for hornets? They are predominantly carnivores, hunting other insects, so a garden that attracts plenty of insects should be good. Figworts are mainly wasp pollinated so these might work as Hornets are a social wasp.
I know people who run moth traps near Hornet nests tend to get a lot of unwelcome (because they eat the moths not to mention possibly sting the mother) Hornets in them, but this also applies to other wasps too. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
