| | | Re: Aronia/Chokeberry I don't have one of these in my garden, but a quick google reveal that birds like the berries and you can turn them into jam or wine, so quite a useful bush anyway.Looking at the flowers I would have thought bees would like them. |

Chokeberry has flowers similar to Apple blossom and is frequented by bees and others.

| | | Re: Aronia/Chokeberry Thanks.
Its allso a a tough plant that can tolerate harsh conditions, like wind frost and salty seaside air.
i can see its blooming in June so its allso good for filling out the "Junegap" for the bees |

| | | Re: Aronia/Chokeberry I have a Photinia outside my lounge window that has appeared in a previous thread. Its delicate apple like flowers are a huge attraction to bumble bees in particular but all sorts of bees, hoverflies, butterflies and moths at night make it hum.
It is quite vigorous and grows insidiously. I pruned it hard last back end and the new shoots are just less than 1m long. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
